Workshop on Greenhouse Gas Inventories in Asia(WGIA) The annual workshops have been held since 2003 in order to support non-Annex I (NAI) Parties in Asia to develop and improve their GHG inventories and to facilitate the enhancement of cooperative relationships towards improvement in the accuracy of national GHG inventories in the Asian region . The Asia Pacific region accounted for 48.8% of the global total, emitting 16.3 gigatons of greenhouse gases. In the same timeframe, Europe and the US combined were responsible for 6.4 gigatons of GHG emissions, accounting for 19% of global emissions. That is less than half of the Asia Pacific’s GHG emissions.
